Alençon Lace

With its alençon lace, scalloped v-neckline with cap sleeves, and tiered pleated tulle train, every detail of my Lazaro wedding gown was perfect. I purchased it from a former bride on weddingbee.com to keep the designer price tag in check. In keeping with the romantic, vintage feel, I also had an alençon lace mantilla veil custom made by Röhm on Etsy.

The Cave

We had the reception dinner in an old wine cellar, which set a rustic mood for an evening of festivities. Sausages overflowed from baskets, wine flowed from a barrel, and everyone was in good spirits. Dinner started with pâté, sausages, and cold salads. For the second course, I chose the brochette de canard {duck skewer} with ratatouille. Then, my favorite part of the meal was the enormous cheese course with fruit. For anyone who wasn’t stuffed, there was crème caramel and apple tarts for dessert {but I had to save room for the Ladurée macarons}.

Wedding Sweets

Once I saw the beautiful pieces montée de macarons {macaron tower} in the window at Ladurée, I knew it was perfect for the wedding instead of cake. With caramel, pistachio, and vanilla macarons, it was quickly devoured by our guests and a perfect end to the evening. Just for good measure, we also had chocolates boxes from La Maison du Chocolat as favors.

Fleurs

Our wedding weekend started with a traditional ceremony in a beautiful church overlooking the Seine. I wanted the flowers to be chic and simple, so the morning of the ceremony I popped into a flower shop I spied the day before. My bouquet was filled with ranunculus, anemones, and freesia, wrapped with silver ribbon.

Weekend in Paris

This past weekend, I was in Paris to pick up some favors and confirm details for my wedding next month. Plus, I’ll take any excuse to eat macarons from Ladurée, a millefeuille from Pierre Hermé, or a duo poire caramel from Gérard Mulot. While walking through the city, I also took some photos of things I spied in my wedding colors {muted green and charcoal grey}. More of my bistro and pâtisserie stops this week.

Sweet Endings

Mont blancs at Café Angelina

To treat our guests, we are having a brunch the day after the wedding. For an indulgent affair, we chose Café Angelina for its thick hot chocolate and rich mont blanc pastries. The café is across the street from the Louvre, which makes for a lovely afternoon. More details after the wedding, au revoir!

Festivities

Vintage Crazy Horse Poster

Our wedding festivities start with a dinner and, of course, intricate French patisseries. Afterwards, we’ll head out for some French culture at le Crazy Horse.

Something Old

Shown here, my “something old” for my upcoming wedding in Paris will be a vintage Stanley Hagler pearl and rhinestone bracelet from my mother. I think I’ll pair it with some glitzy pearl and rhinestone earrings and leave my neckline bare. Pictures of my Alençon lace dress and mantilla veil to follow after the wedding.

Pretty Pumps

I love the vintage glam look of these Christian Louboutin silver Minibout Zep pumps {that I found for 1/2 price on eBay}. Plus they contrast well with my Alençon lace gown. Even better, they are versatile enough to wear after the wedding is over.

Paris Wedding Details

As my spring wedding in Paris approaches, I thought I’d share some details this week. The wedding invitations and reply cards were designed by GoGoSnap on Etsy. The art deco print is based on a vintage Italian postcard. Since we love to travel, I designed the reception cards and table cards as postcards. I also created a Paris city guide, menu, and ceremony program for some personal touches for our guests. More of my resources to follow this week.
